As a senator’s daughter, Kennedy Blackwell has everything, or so it seems. But on her wedding day, a shocking secret changes everything, and Kennedy’s fortunes turn on a dime. Instead of offering their unconditional support, her parents turn their backs on her, proving once and for all that her father’s goal of becoming president is more important than his own child. Forced to start over, Kennedy relies on a pact she and five friends made to each other back in junior high. She also enlists the help of the “entertainment” from her bachelorette party, a handsome handyman-by-day, exotic dancer-by-night.
Wade Roberts faces his existence one crisis at a time. Everything bad in his life has directly resulted from a poor decision or the actions of a member of the Blackwell family. So, when the senator’s daughter calls asking for help, he’s torn between assisting her or making her “pay.” Soon tangled up in the Blackwell family drama, he finds himself being framed for an unspeakable crime. Wade must step up and prove his innocence and his love for a woman who deserves more than he can offer.
Can two people who start with nothing end up with everything?

Her friends were giving sage advice, and she released the tightness that had been building for weeks. “I’m being silly.” She picked up a stack of ones and waved them in the air. “Someone come be my last near-naked man,” she called. A delicious-looking guy wearing a hard hat and strategically-positioned tool belt sauntered over. He wasn’t a seagull, like the rest. This man was a predator. While she was sure he was hunting for dollar bills, she couldn’t help but feel like he was a panther and she a gazelle. “Hey, aren’t you the guy who played the fireman?”
He smiled. “I hate being the fireman.” He patted the leather belt slung low on his hips. “This is who I really am.” He took her hand and led her to the backroom, where he sat her down and then danced. He was all hard muscle and chiseled abs, and she had many questions, but to ask them would be disrespectful to the entertainer. “Getting married, huh?”
“Yep.”
He moved around her like she was part of his choreographed ballet. He moved close enough for her to see the burn scars on his back, but he never touched her.
“Are you married?” It seemed silly to be chatting while he performed, but she was interested in people’s stories. Her father was a politician and had taught her everyone had a story, and she was certain he had an interesting one to tell.
“Nope. I always wanted to, but I haven’t met her yet.”
She glanced around the room. It was low lit and furnished in dark velvets. Thinking about what went on here made her want to shower. “I bet it’s hard to meet nice girls in a place like this.”
His deep laugh flowed over her like warm syrup on pancakes. “I don’t know about that. You seem like a nice girl.”
“I bet you say that to all the ladies with dollar bills.”
He shook his head, and for some reason, she believed him. There was an air of honesty about him she liked.
Three songs played while he danced and they chatted like old friends, then he led her back to the table where her friends waited, leaned in, and kissed her cheek.
“If I were looking, she’d be someone like you. I always seem to be a day late and a dollar short.”
“Not anymore.” Kennedy picked up her remaining cash and tucked the wad in his tool belt. “As far as a day late…” She smiled. “She’s waiting for you. You’ll find her when you least expect it.”
He gave her a piercing look, and the club noise faded. Whoever Mr. Private Dancer was, he seemed to really see her. She wondered if Logan did.
