That’s what I need if I’m going to survive.
Desperation makes me seek out a ruthlessly powerful billionaire.
I need protection.
He demands my virtue as payment.
I’m falling into a world of luxury and sin.
With every twist and turn, I need more. Except this is not a man to love.
This is a man to fear.
His obsession grows. So does the threat, until I’m trapped in a world of depravity. I’ll need more than Nick’s strength to survive. I’m going to need his heart.
“In my study, now,” I order as we walk through the front door and enter the foyer.
“I’m going to bed,” Lyriope spats, not looking at me.
“Now,” I warn.
It’s nice to see that she isn’t stupid. She’s learning because she stops walking, looks over her shoulder at me and waits.
“Study. Now.” I point toward the long hallway that leads to the room.
She crosses her arms and marches to the study without saying another word. I ignore the wet footprints she leaves on the white marble floor, knowing I’m making just as much a mess. It’s unlike me to just leave a mess... in fact, it’s making me itchy, but I need to act now and not concern myself with something my housekeeper will no doubt have cleaned up by the time I’m finished with Lyriope.
“Remove your clothes,” I say as we enter the study and I close the door behind me. “They’re wet.”
“I don’t mind,” she says. “I’ll take a shower and warm up once I go upstairs.” She keeps her arms crossed and gives me a look of impatience.
I release a loud sigh, my own patience wearing thin.
“I gave an order, and I expect it followed. We clearly need a reminder of our contract.”
I see her gulp as her eyes dart to the raging fire in the fireplace. I’m happy it’s ablaze because the warmth in the room is already helping dry my own clothing. I choose not to pay attention to how the water drips from our clothes onto the white rug of my study. Or at least I try to, but I want her out of those clothes as quickly as possible.
“Nick—”She stops speaking as she connects eyes with mine. I like that she’s able to read my thoughts because she quickly lowers her pants and panties, kicking them free. She then lifts her shirt above her head, unfastens her bra, and then stands before me completely nude.
There are wealthy men. Powerful men. Dangerous men.
No one is more dangerous than Nick Hudson.
He lures her toward a decadent, illicit underworld.
THE WHITE RABBIT is a short prologue novella to the Wonderland trilogy by Alta Hensley. Step through the looking glass into this sensual, breathtaking world.
