Hello! Thank you for joining us in celebrating the release of THE LASARAN, Aldebarian Alliance Book 1. I’m very excited to bring you this new series. I love science fiction as much as I love paranormal romance, so I had a LOT of fun combining the two in Taelon and Lisa’s story. It’s one I’ve wanted to tell for quite some time now as it has been sparking many scenes full of action, passion, humor, and romance in my imagination. So today I thought I would share with you:

5 Fun Facts About The Lasaran

The Aldebarian Alliance series is loosely tied to my Immortal Guardians series. But if you’re new to my work, don’t worry. You don’t have to read the IG books to enjoy THE LASARAN.

Here’s a fun fact that will likely surprise Immortal Guardians fans: A pivotal scene from THE LASARAN actually came to me BEFORE I began writing my Immortal Guardians series. That scene intrigued me so much that my muse kept circling back to it, wanting to know more until Taelon and Lisa insisted I absolutely had to tell their story now. :-)

The scene that came to me was actually based on a dream I had. I can’t tell you which scene it was (I’ll probably tell my book group after the release) because I don’t want to spoil it. But the dream was so unlike the dreams I usually have that I actually hoped it would pick up where it left off if I hurried up and went back to sleep.

I delved into all kinds of research while writing THE LASARAN, which ultimately revived my love of astronomy. I’ve spent more time exploring maps of the Milky Way Galaxy and stargazing in the past few months than I have in years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I even found a fun app called Star Walk 2 that helps you identify fun sights in the night sky and tips you off to meteor showers and the like.

Choosing character names for this book was the complete opposite of what I usually experience. With the books in my medieval and time-travel romance series The Gifted Ones, I had to research names that were common in twelfth century England to ensure accuracy. My Immortal Guardians series includes immortals who hail from multiple countries in a wide variety of time periods. Some are British. Some are French, Russian, Egyptian, Australian, Celtic, etc. Some are hundreds of years old. Some are thousands of years old. And for each character, I carefully researched what names were common in the country and century of his or her birth so the names would sound natural and authentic. But for THE LASARAN, I pretty much had to do the opposite. I had to come up with names that DIDN’T sound like they would fit right in here on Earth. It was both challenging and fun. ☺
