Totally Devoted is the first novel by author E.M. Bannock and was a 2019 National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award Finalist in both the Contemporary Romance 56K Words and up category and Best First Book. Audio Book is now available.
My first child, Totally Devoted, was published in 2013. Last year she was republished by 5 Prince Publishing after a face lift. She was re-edited, parts were rewritten, and she was given an overall new look with a sexy, appealing cover that I just adore. She came out bigger and better and I am very proud of the finished product.
It’s a romantic tale that explores aspects of life that many of us face; sorry, loss, and faith. It deals with relationships, truth and trust. Marie and Wil didn’t expect to fall in love. Now they must decide if they dare take the chance. They have to cope with emotions and feelings they thought they were incapable of.
If you’re like me, you love books. But in today’s busy world, who has the time to cozy up to a cup of tea, a glass of wine, or whatever you prefer, and savor the printed word? Not me, for sure! However, I am partial to audio books. They are a convenient and easy way to enjoy the literary world.
We live in a rural area and it’s over forty miles to the nearest store. I spend a lot of time in my car. Radio reception is iffy. BTW, we get no cell phone service at our house. The rides to town are long. I don’t know how I would make it without an audio book.
I also spend a lot of time in the kitchen; no pizza delivery either. I can listen while I cook. Two of my favorite things. And since the books I write are also among my favorite things, it was a natural progression for Totally Devoted to evolve into an audio book, and this year she did.
The audio book creation process was an eye opener with its ups and downs. I’ll highlight a few here for you. Here are some of the things that weren’t so much fun.
Because the cover for Totally Devoted was designed for me by the publishing company, I do not own it. That’s why you see a different cover on the (e)book and the audio book. I designed the audio cover myself so I KNOW that I own it. That was a bit of a shock at first but I had fun designing it. So, started out bad, ended up good.
Next is the fact that Totally Devoted is an X-rated book, you are limited in the number of narrators that are available. Again, started out bad but I really lucked out finding Juliana Solo to narrate for me. Once again, bad turned good.
The last is cost. It was very pricey. I guess if any good can be said about that, it would be. I love the end result. It was money well spent.
The good, is all of the end results from above and the finished product. Hearing your printed word read by someone else is a strangely exhilarating experience. It gave me goose bumps the first time I heard it, the good kind. I hope all of you will enjoy hearing it. It’s a spicy, modern romance with a western flavor that has something, I think, everyone can identify with.
