When I open my eyes, he’s staring at me. I see the sides of his mouth lifting as he watches me lick my lips. Feelings I haven’t had for a long time start to flow through my body. It’s like molten gold running through my veins, warming me and flicking at parts of me that I thought had died. I take another bite of my pancake. Is it the food making me feel like this? Or is it the very intense, very handsome man staring at me?
He seems to have forgotten he was talking to his friend. He lifts his coffee cup in a greeting to me, and I feel the color flushing my cheeks. Oh my God, since when do I act like a blushing virgin? I’m normally in control of my life and my emotions, but right now I feel like I’m spiraling out of control.
I lift my cup in return, and he stands up.
Oh my God. Oh my God, is he coming over to me? My heart races out of control; now I’m panicking.
He hasn’t taken his eyes off me, and he’s definitely coming over. His friend reaches across and grabs his arm, then holds out a phone to him. Seemingly annoyed to be disturbed, he takes the phone, and his face changes in seconds.
Shit, something bad must have happened.
He starts shouting into the phone. “Are you serious? Who would dare do that?” I don’t hear anything else he says as he turns away from me. He gathers his briefcase as his friend picks up the papers, and they both storm out of the restaurant.
I finish my pancakes and coffee, then sit back in my chair, looking around me. I’m surrounded by businesspeople rushing to their first meetings, but I take my time to enjoy my last hour here.
Just as I’m about to leave, I get a ping on my phone.

I smile as I read it, then check out of the hotel and make my way home. I have research to do.

What exactly is boosting?

When I chose the title BOOST for this latest release, I thought that everyone would know what the book would be about. However, I’ve since realized that if you’ve not seen Gone in 60 Seconds or any of the Fast and Furious franchise, then it might not be clear. When someone steals a car, it’s called ‘boosting’.

I love watching action movies, especially ones with the high-speed car chases and high adrenaline plots. That’s what I’ve tried to achieve with BOOST. I had to watch all the movies that had either car chases or stealing cars in them for research purposes – it was really hard, but that’s what we do for our books.

I wanted to put a twist on the usual sexy car thief and that’s why I have a strong woman in the lead role as The Ghost. Zahara loves fast cars and she can steal a car right under someone’s nose without them realizing she’s doing it. Would I like to be her? Absolutely right I would.

She gets to hang with guys who are adrenaline junkies and drive fast, expensive cars. So if you’re like me and always looking for new, exciting experiences,, pick up BOOST and give it a read!

Krissy V hated English at school. Really hated it. She gave up on English literature in the fourth year because she detested writing stories; she couldn’t make them up to save her life. She disliked writing precisely and was horrendous at grammar. Having lived in Norway when she was younger, English was her second language.
