Although Nick Klassen is grateful when Eve rides to his rescue after he breaks down outside of December, Manitoba, he can’t run fast enough when his meddling grandmother tries to set him up with the pretty tow-truck driver. Then he gets an idea.
Between juggling extra hours at work and a never-ending Christmas to-do list, Eve LeBlanc doesn’t have time for a new man in her life. But ever since she picked Nick up on the side of the road, she’s been running into him everywhere.
His flirtations started innocently enough but when his grandmother invites “his girlfriend” to the family’s Christmas dinner, Nick realizes if he wants to stop pretending about Eve, he must come clean. Once Eve learns of his deception, he’ll need Santa’s help to turn their fake relationship in the real thing.
Elle's Christmas Playlist
There is nothing like a good playlist to put you in the right frame of mind. They are especially important when you are trying to write a trapped-by-a-blizzard scene during an August heat wave. Fortunately, I have a massive collection of Christmas music to get me through.
(I’m dating myself, but the first holiday album I can remember singing along to is “Elvis’ Christmas Album.” My mom was the biggest Elvis fan on the planet. I still know all the words to “Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me”. Go ahead, test me!)
While I prefer upbeat carols, I must admit my all-time favourite is a little on the sadder side. “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” breaks my heart every time. It’s perfect for every Christmas movie when the hero and heroine end up tragically separated for the holidays...just before a seat magically opens up on the next flight home, or a group of strangers offer to get them closer to home in a town-by-town relay, or a tow truck appears to save the day (hint, hint.) Because every Christmas romance needs to end with the couple kissing on Christmas Day!
My playlists also get a workout when I’m baking Christmas cookies and wrapping presents.
Top 5 Songs:
I’ll Be Home for Christmas (because it must lead to a happy holiday story ending)
White Christmas (I’m from Manitoba – all Christmases are under two feet of snow)
All I Want for Christmas is You (Mariah Carey has the voice of an angel)
Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord (instantly lifts my spirits, it’s so bouncy)
Christmas Eve (I too have waited all year for this, Kelly)
