What she doesn’t count on is running into Robbie Campbell, the guy who tried so hard to ditch her nearly twenty years ago that it took a search and rescue team to save her. Not only that, she doesn’t expect to fall for Robbie’s daughter’s big, brown eyes and agree to hold a themed costume party for Donella’s 31st birthday. One that involves her relatives dressing in nineteenth century safari garb and dusty, old animal outfits.
And none of that even begins to address her grandmother’s attempts to matchmake and marry off Donella within the month.
It’s going to be one long, trying summer in Scotland. However, sometimes the strangest situations can show what someone needs in life. Because if Donella falls in love with a man who can put up with her family, she may finally have her happy ending in sight.
Provided her relatives don’t drive her crazy first.
Archie barked and in the next second, Donella fell against his chest. He managed to release her hand and place it on her waist to steady her.
For a few beats, they remained that way, her chest against his front, his hand just above the curve of her hip. His heart pounded, and as Donella's sweet feminine scent filled his nose, he nearly lowered his head to nuzzle her cheek.
However, Donella raised her face so she could meet his gaze again. Between her flushed cheeks and soft body, he leaned a fraction closer to her lips. Catching himself, he froze.
Robbie opened his mouth to apologize, but Donella spoke first. "Just kiss me, Robbie. I'm tired of wondering."
There were plenty of reasons why he should step away and refuse. After all, the best way to protect Ruby was to keep others away from her. If he never fell in love with a woman again, there was no risk of breaking his daughter's heart if something went wrong.
And yet, he remembered Donella agreeing to have a fancy-dress party because Ruby asked. Or, how she'd taken his daughter inside and easily agreed to look at a rock collection. Bloody hell, she'd even given up her first full day in Scotland to spend it with him and his daughter.
Maybe, just maybe, Donella Spencer was different.
Before he could change his mind, Robbie closed the distance between their lips and kissed her.

What a wonderful excerpt. It hooked me and has me curious now to read the whole story. Love reading about romance in Scotland.
